Objectives

  • Strengthen community governance and leadership in sustainable wildlife management.
  • Expand and connect regional networks supporting Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM).
  • Develop economic opportunities through sustainable tourism and community-owned enterprises.

Our partnership with Jamma has brought marginalised communities to the global decision-making spaces. Our impact has been far reaching and African voices are now no longer taken for granted on sustainable use issues.

Results/Impact

  1. An established, strong, fully operational SADC network base across the following sectors:  CBNRM, environmental and social justice and resource-based communities.
  2. A Global CBNRM Resource Rights and Use – Interdisciplinary Communications approach and reach inclusive of a) advocacy; b) research; c) media; and d) law. 
  3. Established legal principles around community rights, environmental and social justice, inclusive of sustainable use are strengthened and policy informed to guide natural resource management and implemented across the region.
