Results/Impact
This project plays a crucial role in providing essential protein and income to rural communities in Mkushi and Luano districts, where fish protein is scarce. By increasing fish production, the project aims to raise the average annual consumption to 7kg per person, addressing the current gap caused by low production. Through a focus on aquaculture, this initiative presents fish farming as a viable, inclusive business opportunity for small- to medium-sized farmers. By boosting fish farming productivity, the project enhances livelihoods along the entire aquaculture value chain, contributing to per capita income growth, poverty reduction, and livelihood diversification.
