1. Eligibility
  • The Competition is open to any individual aged 18 or over.
  • Employees or immediate family members of the Organiser, sponsors, or members of the judging panel are not eligible to enter.
  • Participants may submit entries to one or more of the competition categories.
2. Organiser

The Living with Wildlife Photography Competition (“the Competition”) is organised by Jamma International trading as Jamma Conservation & Communities (“the Organiser”).

3. Submission Guidelines
  • All entries must be submitted via the official competition WhatsApp number or alternative submission platform as specified by the Organiser.
  • Each submission must include:
    • Full name of the photographer
    • Country and city/town/closest town of residence
    • The category entered
    • A short caption or story accompanying the photograph
    • The photograph being submitted
    • Confirmation of age 18 or above
    • Confirmation of acceptance of these Terms & Conditions
  • All entries must be received by the published deadline. Late submissions will not be considered.
4. Submissions on Behalf of Another Person
  • Entries may be submitted on behalf of the photographer by a family member, friend, or authorised representative if the photographer does not have access to the required submission platform.
  • The person submitting on behalf of the photographer must ensure that:
    • The correct name and contact details of the photographer (the image owner) are provided.
    • The photographer has agreed to participate in the Competition and has accepted these Terms & Conditions.
    • Full consent has been obtained from the photographer for the submission and for any use of the photograph as outlined in these Terms & Conditions.
  • In cases of dispute or uncertainty, the Organiser may request written confirmation from the photographer to verify consent.
5. Image Requirements
  • Photographs must be the original work of the photographer. If submitted by someone on the photographer’s behalf, the image must still be the original work of the named photographer (entrant).
  • Submissions must reflect the Competition’s theme: Living with Wildlife.
  • Basic editing (cropping, colour correction, sharpening) is permitted. Entries that are heavily manipulated or digitally altered may be disqualified at the judges’ discretion.
  • The Organiser may request high-resolution versions of shortlisted entries for judging, exhibitions, and promotional use.
6. Prizes
     6.1 Cash Prize
  • Each category winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000 USD.
  • Cash prizes will be paid via bank transfer to the winner’s personal bank account.
  • Winners will be required to provide valid banking details, proof of identity, and any other documentation necessary to process the payment securely.
  • Payments will not be made in cash or via informal payment channels (such as mobile money, remittance services, or third-party intermediaries).
  • All banking fees, currency conversion charges, or taxes applicable in the recipient’s country are the responsibility of the winner.
     6.2 Community Donation
  • In addition to the cash prize, each winning photographer may nominate a local community-based organisation to receive a $3,000 USD donation.
  • Community donation payments will only be made via bank transfer to a verified bank account held in the name of the nominated organisation.
  • The nominated organisation must:
    • Be a registered non-profit, community-based organisation, or charitable entity legally able to receive funds.
    • Operate in the region where the photographer is based or where the photo was taken.
    • Be able to provide valid legal registration documentation, banking details, and any information required for verification.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to review, approve or decline nominated organisations if eligibility requirements are not met or if sufficient verification cannot be provided.
  • If the nominated organisation is not approved or no nomination is made, the Organiser reserves the right to allocate the funds to an alternative community organisation aligned with the goals of the Competition.
     6.3 Awards Ceremony Trip
  • Winners may be invited to attend the awards ceremony in Johannesburg, South Africa, along with one guest (“plus one”), depending on feasibility. The Organiser will make every effort to support this, subject to availability of travel documents (e.g. passport, visa), cost, and logistical viability.
  • Where feasible, the Organiser may cover travel from the winner’s home country, local transport, accommodation, meals during the programme, and a modest stipend.
  • However, this component of the prize is not guaranteed and may vary based on practical considerations.
  • Virtual participation options may be offered if travel is not possible.
     6.4 General Prize Conditions
  • All prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and non-refundable.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to amend the prize structure if necessary, due to unforeseen circumstances.
7. Judging and Awards
  • Entries will be judged by an independent panel of judges appointed by the Organiser.
  • The judging panel's decisions are final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding judging outcomes.
  • The Organiser reserves the right not to award a prize in any category if, in their sole discretion, no entry sufficiently meets the judging criteria or eligibility requirements.
  • Winners will be notified directly and announced publicly.
8. Intellectual Property & Usage Rights
  • The entrant (photographer) retains full copyright of their submitted image(s).
  • By entering, the entrant grants the Organiser and its partners a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use the image(s) for:
    • Promotion of this and future editions of the Competition;
    • Educational, advocacy, and communications purposes aligned with the Organiser’s mission;
    • Exhibitions, publications, printed materials, digital platforms, and social media.
  • The Organiser will make every reasonable effort to credit the photographer wherever the image is used.
9. Consent and Permissions
  • By submitting an entry, the entrant confirms they have obtained consent from any individuals identifiable in the photograph.
  • The entrant confirms that the photograph does not infringe any third-party rights, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
10. Disqualification
  • The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entrant found to have breached these Terms & Conditions or who provides false or misleading information.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to remove any entry deemed inappropriate, offensive, or inconsistent with the objectives of the Competition.
11. Personal Data & Privacy
  • Personal information provided will be used solely for administering the Competition.
  • Entrants’ data will be handled securely and in accordance with data protection laws.
  • The Organiser may retain entrant data for archival, contact, and promotional purposes related to the Competition.
12. General Provisions
  • Participation in the Competition constitutes full acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to amend or update these Terms & Conditions at any time.
