Exploring the Potential of the Hub with Our Partners

Jamma recently spent time with partners in Botswana and Zimbabwe to explore how the GIS Hub could improve data collection and decision-making for Human-Centred Conservation projects in southern Africa.

We focused on understanding the Hub’s potential impact and what it would take to bring it to life.

The enthusiasm from communities and conservation organisations was inspiring. Many partners already have a strong understanding of GIS tools, which will form the backbone of the Hub. This shared excitement reaffirmed the importance of moving forward with what could be a game-changer for conservation in the region.

The visit highlighted how important it is to have strong local support for any conservation project. Spending time with people on the ground provided clearer insights into what’s working, what’s needed, and how we can collaborate to make a lasting impact. The learnings represent a big step forward for the GIS Hub, and we’re excited to share more updates as this project evolves.
